Man of Two Wars I (Reduction)

Jewish Museum of Greece

A reduction of Man of Two Wars I, in the collection of the Jewish Museum of Greece in Athens.

The bust draws on the lives and suffering of Jewish and non-Jewish Greeks during the 1940s. It is the sculptor’s self-portrait in the Hellenic Heads cycle, and looks to Rodin’s Pierre de Wissant from The Burghers of Calais.
