Description
This piece refers to the life of many Greeks in the 1940s, marked by the brutal Nazi occupation 1941-1945, then a ravaging Greek civil war 1945-1949. My parents and their families lived through those years. I was initially inspired by the head of Pierre de Wiessant which I saw in Paris at the Rodin Museum; however, as I kept working on the piece, I realized that it has aspects of self portraiture.
